NEAR NIXA, Mo. (KY3) -A groundbreaking ceremony kicked off work on 2027’s St. Jude Dream Home Friday morning.

KY3’s Leigh Moody and Rob Macko were honored to join hospital supporters and contractors as they turned the ceremonial first shovels.

Next year’s Dream Home is in the Kelby Creek development south of Nixa.

Every year, ticket sales to win the dream home raise millions of dollars to help doctors at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fight childhood cancer.

Bussell Building led the construction of 2026’s Dream Home and is back to do it again this year.

Tyler Bussell, president of Bussell Building, said he’s happy for another opportunity to help.

“We have some friends who had a, you know, a small stint at St. Jude. Just thinking about what they went through and trying to put yourself in their shoes. It’s tough. I mean, it’s really hard to even think about. And if we can play just a very small piece of the puzzle to help try to end childhood cancer, I mean, I’ll do anything I could,” said Bussell.

Tickets to win the 2027 St. Jude Dream Home will go on sale this spring. We’ll have much more information about the house and other prizes when the campaign goes into full swing in April.
