SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Narcan is provided on Springfield City Utilities buses for bus drivers to administer if a passenger is overdosing.

Springfield City Utilities (CU) bus drivers are trained on how to use naloxone in emergency overdose situations.

“I so appreciate having another tool in our toolbox to help our passengers,” said CU bus driver Eva Lacombe.

Jamie Presley with CU said the naloxone packs were provided at no cost to the city.

“It’s a free program through MOCORPS,” said Presley.

She said, thankfully, so far, bus drivers have not had to use the naloxone.

“We have not had to administer it since we’ve had Narcan on the buses, and we hope we never have to administer it,” Presley said. “It’s (narcan) is very similar to CPR; you learn it and you hope you never have to use it.”
