NIXA, Mo. (KY3) - Looking for a way to spend the evening with your family for free? The city of Nixa has you covered with its annual Halloween Spooktacular at McCauley Park from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on October 23.

“A little bit of trick-or-treating, so definitely lots of candy, fun carnival games, activities, train rides, laser tag, and behind me is the haunted hall,” said Matt Crouse, director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Nixa. “So a little bit creepy, but hopefully not overly creepy, just a nice, fun family event.”

The best part: no spooky fees to scare your family away. However, if you get a little hungry for something other than candy, there are food trucks on site that take cash or card.

“It’s just fun to get the community out. And any time the community is out, you may interact with someone that you’ve never met before. You may interact with a neighbor that you didn’t realize was your neighbor, so it’s just fun to see that,” said Crouse. “It’s fun to see the kids all dressed up; they come in their Halloween costumes, but it’s not a requirement, but something that they do. And then the most fun is when the entire family dresses up.”

There is lots of parking at the X Center; however, Crouse says it will fill up quickly. There is free parking across the street at the elementary school as well.
