Jordan Valley Health raises awareness of Radiation Exposure Compensation Act expansion
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Jordan Valley Health is raising awareness about the expansion of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act, a federal program for exposure victims.
In 2025, eligibility expanded to include additional areas and groups, including people in Missouri. It’s specifically connected to the Manhattan Project in the St. Louis area. The work on the atomic bomb impacted people who lived, worked, or attended school near Coldwater Creek or the Weldon Spring area in St. Louis.
Jordan Valley says it’s crucial to make sure those impacted learn about these programs and get the help they need.
“Everybody’s been affected by cancer. People know people that have cancer or get diagnosed with that, and most importantly it’s just about the awareness campaign,” said Ryan Kruger, Chief Strategy Officer with Jordan Valley Health. “So how do we get the word out and make sure that if somebody’s eligible for these funds, that they get those? And it’s not necessarily a direct family member; it’s friends, it’s people that you interact with throughout the community, it’s coworkers.”
