Sophia Farrell
Digital Intern
Lincoln, Nebraska

Sophia Farrell is a digital intern who joined 10/11 News in August of 2026.
She is from Hopkins, Minnesota, where she was involved in local theater, which is where she found her love for storytelling. She has since taken that passion and used it to tell the stories of the Lincoln community.
Sophia is currently a senior at UNL with a double major in broadcasting and journalism and a minor in theater. During her time in school, she has been involved in Nebraska Nightly, the student-run news broadcast, where she has taught students the processes of working in a newsroom and acted as executive producer for the two weekly broadcasts. She also works as an ambassador for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, where she aids college recruitment efforts and educates local high school students on what the CoJMC has to offer.
Outside of the college, Sophia has worked for the Daily Nebraskan, UNL’s independently student-run newspaper, as an opinion and culture reporter.
This last summer, Sophia was chosen to participate in the News21 program at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, where she reported with students from around the country on varying topics related to the American housing crisis.
In her free time, she enjoys watching sitcoms, thrift shopping, and spending time with her dogs.
